Kelly Butts
I was starting to go to college for psychology and decided I wanted to graduate quicker in the medical field and decided to go ahead and start IBMC for the medical associate. My vision is to get into [Medical Assisting] with a psychology mental health, behavioral health situation, and then go to school and become a psychologist. [Favorite part of the program?] Probably medical terminology. I love that part of it. I’m a nerd, so I like that part of it, but I like the hands on. I really enjoyed injections and blood draws, so I like that as well. Yeah, I’m pretty excited for it.

I was a preschool teacher for about a year and a half, and then I was in school getting my education license and I decided I wasn’t in love with it, so I decided to go back to hair ’cause I’ve been doing that since I was like 15..I immediately got licensed and now I’m working at Floyd’s, down in Fort Collins..In the next few years I wanna get my citizenship overseas and then take my trade and be able to cut over there and learn some new techniques and be able to further my education that IBMC has given me the foundation for.

My favorite part of the program is just everybody helping each other, just engaging and meeting the barbers, wanting the same thing as I did, and just not letting each other fail. We just pushed each other. If there’s something in your heart or in your mind that you wanna do, go out and do it. ’cause, tomorrow’s not promised…take charge of your life and go out and do it. I definitely think all of the IBMC instructors, administrators, they had a big part in helping me so shout out to them. my family and friends.

I was tired of hopping from job to job, so I definitely wanted a career as opposed to something I just did to pay the bills. The legal field is a lot of research and I like research. Also, paralegals do beyond research, a lot of investigation and due diligence to find expert witnesses or to find information about clients, anything like that. I’m excited. I also wanna do life coaching and then from that I’ll merge my paralegal experience with the life coaching to do mediation.

Right now I’m a medical assistant. I am working at MBI right now. Before IBMC I just graduated from high school and I was doing a break before doing what I wanted to do, and I knew I wanted to go into the medical field somehow. So I was like, you know what? A good start to that would be becoming a medical assistant. My favorite part of the program was for sure the how much hands-on we had. I liked how quick it was and how efficient it was. Like I felt like the more hands-on I did, the more I would understand what I was doing. Words of advice would really be, enjoy your time, take your time with your things, and just honestly have fun with it. Shout out to myself for doing it and my friends and my family out there.

What would I say to somebody considering enrolling at IBMC? Do it. Just do it. Honestly, the teachers and especially Mary—she always just made sure that I had everything that I needed and helped me accommodate anyway I needed.

My name is Yatiri Korva. I’m graduating from the Longmont campus on Cosmetology. I am starting my own business in Lash Extensions. Just expanding my business more and branching out to do more facials and specialize more in chemical peels and Lash Extensions. Honestly, it’s a great program. You get to meet lifelong friends that I’m currently here with. And I don’t think that I’ll ever stop being friends with them and you honestly learn so much about the industry without even realizing it and you’re a lot more prepared at the end of it than you think you are.

My name’s Marzelina. I’m graduating today from IBMC in Greeley from Cosmetology. My mother inspired me to do cosmetology. She always knew how to make everybody feel beautiful in their own skin and their own hair and I want to be part of that. I’m looking forward to digging deeper into working with ethnic hair and that hair community. So, it’s super exciting and super fun.

Jesse and Dustin were by far amazing; they taught me everything I know out on the floor. They made every day so much fun and morning lessons and everything that they taught us.
My advice to somebody who’s considering enrolling: be on time, come prepared, and then try and learn something new every single day and work hard and it all pays off in the end.

I’ve had a great experience at IBMC. My favorite instructor was Jesse and Dustin. They taught me a lot with hair and highlights. I want to build my own business and do nails.

My favorite class was probably color. I think that color and also skin and nails have really become my strong suit and what I’m looking forward to doing. It’s definitely a great experience and you learn a lot. My advice is definitely research and see what you want to do because some people go in just for skin and so it might be better to just do that, but it’s definitely a great experience.

Hi, my name is Nikki. I’m graduating from Barbering School and my favorite thing from school was meeting all the new people and learning all different type of techniques. I am looking forward to working at a barber shop and hopefully opening a barber shop of my own. My favorite thing to do was cutting up beards, trimming them up and stuff like that.

It was definitely worth it. It was kind of almost like all the lessons I learned besides hair cutting and besides the sanitation procedures and things like that. You know, how to take constructive criticism, active listening, sharpened up my communication skills a lot better. Yeah, it was definitely worth it.

I am Amanda McDaniel and I am graduating today from Medical Assistant. I actually currently work over at Summitstone and Behavioral Health. I work at Aiman Wellness, which is with the probation department… I have 80 patients right now. I love them all. I just want them to succeed and not go back in the area that they’re at right now… I am so happy I did this.
